This is my finished draft for the midterms. My magazine is a winter season fashion magazine of 2017. I interviewed an aspiring model to be who said statements on the beauty standards of most fashion magazines. This is my cover page of the winter season for my fashion magazine. I chose somewhat vibrant colors and turned them dark, so the magazine cover wouldn't be too overwhelming with bright colors. It looks calm and casual, such as the winter season should be. Since the model is wearing a yellow sweater (both wintry and trendy) I chose for the title color to also be a shade of yellow. I would've wanted the rest of the words on the cover to be yellow, but that's too bland and yellow wouldn't be a clear/striking color for the cover; hence, I chose red because there's a little red at the bottom of the photo and white because it's a simple, but clear color for the cover that really compliments the entire thing. I didn't get much photos of me taking the photos to show production because the person I called over did not arrive in time and it was salient for us to be finished by 10, hence here are two pictures of me taking a picture during one part of the photo shoot.

Today, I scheduled another photo shoot, but it's going to be for the article. I took many pictures, hence I have many to choose from, but I broke down all fifty-seven pages and manage to get to my top 5. I included the last photo I took of her with the yellow sweater to create a play on emotions and angles in the article. They all scream winter vibes, which is perfect for my magazine and the entire ambience of it is aesthetic to me. I feel very confident on how they looked. They all seemed wintery and casual to me with the velvet trench coat, trendy glasses, pink and yellow sweaters, a low-cut olive short dress, and long velvet boots. I stuck with the bedroom setting and a white solid wall to simplify the look of the entire article page. I had asked for the model to show different expressions to show different sides of her in the article  and to emulate a striking poses to match with the concept. I tried different lighting and editing to show different colors of each photos ...

Previously, I was still deciding on an option one or two for my table of contents and I chose to do option one because based on the photos I took, it had a longer impression and I took a picture of a group of people; so, I just thought that it would be a better idea for the picture to be above and the rest of the contents are laid out nicely. Also, I had a myriad of content, so using option two would not have been a good idea because that was meant for me to use if I didn't have as much content.

These were the behind the scenes that Garrett and Georgia Kate took of my models and I for the table of contents. My models were Kelsey Drummond, Kelli Elliott, and Dante Garcia. The vision I sought after was a denim look. Denim goes great for the winter seasons. I although feel like I made a mistake in asking one of the models to wear short, FOR A WINTER SEAOSN MAGAZINE! But I still liked the photos and the subtleness of their expressions and poses. I made it that the guy wearing all the denim and denim colors to be in the middle, then the girl with a black colored shirt and the girl in the white colored shirt to be on the opposite sides to get the balanced look.

Today, I scheduled a photoshoot with my friends -- Kelsey Drummond, Dante Garcia, Kelli Elliott, Garrett Gruttadauria, and Gerogia Kate Yeomans -- for my table of contents picture at Building 4 at Sarasota High due to the white brick walls, which are aesthetic to me and in my magazine. I decided for my table of contents theme to be denim, hence everyone in the picture was wearing denim. Kelsey, Dante, and Kelli were my models and Georgia and Garrett made sure lighting was correct and they also took a picture of me taking a picture of the models. Here are the photos I took for my table of contents. I really like the one where they're all together, instead of Kelsey slightly apart form everyone else to make it seem more compact.

Now, I'm experimenting so far and I just put the magazine title for this picture to see how it would look and it looks great, definitely most likely using this one for the cover for a winter issue. Then again, I love how this picture is not like most of the magazines I see. It's simple and vibrant, which is striking to the eye. It's going to be a little tricky with the color scheme, since I limited myself to red and yellow, but it's workable.

Out of the twenty-seven pictures I took of the model, I made it to the final two photos that I really liked, one of them is going to be in the cover and the other might be in the article itself. But, all in all, I decided this to be on my cover... The colors, although, are a little vibrant and the model's face seem out of balance, in terms of her sin shade, to her skin form the neck down. It must be because of the makeup, but I still like it. It's different from every magazine I've looked at or researched. Most of the magazine are close-up,s or limited to an action, or behind a solid color screen, or simply them on a natural background. But this one, I'm thinking of putting in my article because I equally like it too, but I don't know how I feel about using a similar motif in the article...

Here are some photos of me taking a picture of my featured model to be in my magazine, the location was her bedroom as I was experimenting on the different seasons to feature my magazine in. This photo shoot is for my winter magazine, which turned out great. Experimentation on the different angles, props, and lighting was informational for future basis on other photo shoots.

For my flat plan, I decided to make a hundred and thirty pages, almost half are Ads and the rest are content. Most of the magazines I saw had a myriad of ADs in the beginning of the magazine, in between articles, and a limited amount towards the end of the magazine. I focused my flat plan on the different styles, trends, and models featured in the magazine. I chose for the magazine to be a hundred and thirty pages because that's about the average pages that I read on the magazines,. There are some with about 100, but I felt like 130 pages is in between. If I were to complete the entire magazine, the articles I would write would be about a specific model and their aspirations in being a model. I already have some people in mind for that and each article is going to be individualized for the model, but also relatable to a bigger scale -- globally.

I scheduled a photoshoot with my sister for this coming Thursday, December 14. This time, I'm trying to achieve a December look for my model. I feel like a simple sweater in the bed with Christmas lights will be sufficient to get that December feeling. If I have enough time after school and finish the December cover, I might experiment on different seasonal fashion styles for the model to wear in order to get a variety.

I forgot to post this earlier, but I scheduled a photoshoot today w ith my sister at our house because we have a huge white background and took some pictures for the fashion magazine. Out of the thirteen photos I took in different angles, etc. I decided this specific picture. Although, I'm not very confident about it being the cover. I tried to place the magazine name to see some perspective on the magazine itself, but I may or may not pick this one for the cover because it doesn't necessarily show the good angles of the model and the photo is just too dark for me. I like the idea that the model is wearing all denim because it's usually a fashion mistake for some people because some denims don't blend together; but since the model had about the same shades of denim, it looks more pleasing to the eye. I just think that the background seems a little bland, like some of the magazines I saw had a solid color background.

This is my second table of contents. My inspiration for this is Elle magazine. There's something about it that make me say "WOW." It's just that, it's not a traditional way of making it because most of the table of contents I see have a white background and words, etc. -- BORING. So, I decided that this might be a god idea. When the pictures come in, I might consider the first option, I'm not very sure at this moment. My only concern is that, on the magazine, the table of contents is divided into two pages; which I can't do because the final draft only needs one page, so that's going to be a little difficult to achieve. Especially that I have about a hundred-thirty pages to cover and I'm expecting for the table of contents to be quite long.

This is my first draft on my table of contents. I have another idea for the table of contents, so that's coming up next. This idea came from Porter magazine. I really like it as it's simple and striking at the same time. This is what it's most likely going to look like, but the magazine has section titles and I might add it later on during the process because it separates different articles and ideas within the magazine. I might also add a little color to the section titles if I choose to do it because a plain table of contents doesn't give aesthetics. I'm thinking for the magazine title to also be colored, so it doesn't look bland. Most magazines I saw only had a single color and it seemed bland to me, which I didn't really like.

This might change depending on the pictures I take because I have to compliment each based on the angles I take them in, in order to prevent my fonts from blocking any good features, etc. Most of the magazines that I saw, from my research, were formatted like this. Many factors could change from my template; but essentially, this is what it should look like considering the color schemes, angles, the model itself, and others is pictured.

My magazine is going to consist of simple fonts such as Cambira and Centaur to create a concept of simplicity, but there are obviously going to be some words that should stand out more, which is why I chose them to be bold. Clearly, the title is going to be bold and large, but the issue name would be too by just a little bit so it doesn't overpower the cover layout. Although, for my table of contents and the articles in my magazine, the font size will be much smaller, but the text would be in Cambria. I'm not sure how the Centaur is going to look so far in my magazine, so I might be changing it later on.

The name that I chose for my magazine is  " Émouvant,"  which means appealing, moving, or inspiring in French. I tried to find words that relate to fashion, without duplicating any existing magazine names. This is the best one I found, which is also very convenient for me as my goal in producing this magazine is the concept of appealing and inspiring stories on the breakthrough of unorthodox beauty standards. My magazine will contain models who don't necessarily have the characteristics of a model like height (mostly because I can't find a lot of tall people), but they're amazingly beautiful just as a model should be.
