Cover Photo Choice

I got my choices for my cover photo revision between these two: I believe that they both exemplify my goals for the magazine. It's rather simplified compared to my previous cover photo, which I really like. Both yellow and white are based on my original color scheme from the last cover photo. Knowing that my models were wearing denim on my table of contents, I also decided for my cover photo model to be wearing about the same color to coordinate everything. Everything is more subtle and natural, which is what I was really going for.

Photo Shoot 5

I scheduled a photo shoot last Thursday, 2/22/18, for my cover photo revision. I wanted to revise the photo because the last cover photo was dark, compact, and too many things happening. I simplified the photo and used natural lighting to exemplify the features of the model. The words were also simplified, so the photo is not overwhelming like my previous cover. I have 3 photos that turned out exactly how I wanted them, but I still have to decide which one I want to use. The most likely choice I'm going to make is to use the close-up photo, instead of the other two.

Revision Issue

I decided earlier on that I wanted my magazine to be a spring issue magazine, but I encountered wardrobe problems; wherein my models have limited options. I decided that I wanted to show off some denim for my table of contents and some kind of sweater for the cover photo. I looked into which season of the year denim is in and I saw that they're more popularly worn during the fall season, so I decided to change my season issue to fall or a month during fall season because I have to correlate my photos to the season. Both denim and sweaters can work during fall because that's the time where the weather becomes cooler. Now, I scheduled a photo shoot for a better cover photo for my magazine last Thursday, 2/15/18, but the conditions of the location was not ideal. First of all, it was a sunny day an hour before my scheduled photoshoot, then it suddenly turned cloudy and dark. Then, when we were trying to do the photoshoot, a man came over and told us that we couldn't d...

Feedback for Revisions

I didn't get enough feedback from my magazine, but I still got some minor revisions to do based from the limited ones given to me. My class liked my magazine a lot, but I had to changed some minor details like make the text more apparent in the cover page and justify the text in my article. I intended to make a spring issue magazine, but due to schedule difficulties and time constraint, I had to choose to make a winter issue magazine indoors. So, for my revisions, I plan on justifying my text in the article, changing the cover photo and coordinate the colors with the photo, and change anything that says 'winter issue' and change it to a 'spring issue' kind of vibe.

Super Bowl Commercials

In furthering my research in marketing for my magazine, I came across three Super Bowl commercials that I thought would enhance how I would market my magazine to a specific target audience. I took down some of the techniques that made the commercial appealing to the target audience and how I could use it to my advantage to appeal to my target audience. The first commercial I watched was Lindsey Vonn's NBC Winter Olympics (2018) ad to showcase the 2018 Winter Olympics. Their goal was to, essentially, make people of any age watch the Olympics and actually be interested in it by using pathos in the ad. They achieved and successfully portrayed pathos throughout the ad by showing the adversities that Lindsey Vonn faced, just to win in the Olympics; almost making us, Americans, feel patriotic because the ad show how Lindsey Vonn, an American Olympic player, went through it all and still won the games. For my magazine, I can definitely use pathos to come across my idea that anyone can ...

Target Audience Research 3

Just like I said, a part of my target audience are teenagers. According to my research, Teen Vogue also has the same target audience -- as suggested by their magazine name. When I say teenagers, I mean predominantly teenage girls are their target audience. The magazine itself focuses on fashion, which is also my plan of focus, but they're also beginning to focus on politics and correct events, which I believe is also significant in a successful magazine that I plan on focusing also. They're also fairly accessible, same as their parent magazine, Vogue . The contents of the magazine are fairly understandable to most audiences, but there may be some technical terms that could be involved when they mention current events or politics, so that might pose as a slight issue -- other than that, education level is not an issue. It's around the same price as the parent magazine, Vogue , so it shouldn't pose as a problem in terms of income level; but, it's definitely gear...

Target Audience Research 2

Another part of my target audience are adults in their 20s or 30s. According to my research, Porter magazine has an older target audience, but is still relevant to my target audience of the youth division. Their magazine is predominantly of the female demographic, which matches my target audience. They appeal to women of all ages, which means that they can still be relevant to my magazine. They capture women empowerment and confidence among women. They also have a specific set of pages for this topic and several major articles about women achievement, which i plan on capturing. In terms of geography, they're fairly accessible everywhere, but are limited to about 60 countries -- predominantly in the U.S. and the U.K. The magazine is also relatively easy to read and understand, so education level isn't an issue. It might although pose as a problem for some people money-wise because the magazine is $9.99 USD. Some may not find this appealing; but for the price, it's relative...

Target Audience Research 1

A part of my target audience is to the younger generation, among the age groups of sixteen to eighteen. According to some research I've done, Seventeen magazine has the same target audience as me, teenagers. First of all, both my magazine and Seventeen magazine promotes self-confidence and to inspire our viewers to be model workers, etc. Technically, the name of their magazine alludes to them to appeal towards seventeen-year-olds, but it essentially turned out to appeal the entire teenage population interested in the magazine; a lmost thirteen million teens read the magazine.  The magazine may have even appealed to pre-teens and the younger generation as it's thought that they would read it in order to somewhat imitate teenagers when the time is right. Their magazine also appeals to mostly women as most of the models being portrayed are females and the content of the magazine are dedicated to mostly women, like makeup, dresses, and many others. Geography isn't necessar...
