This is my finished draft for the midterms. My magazine is a winter season fashion magazine of 2017. I interviewed an aspiring model to be who said statements on the beauty standards of most fashion magazines.
This is my cover page of the winter season for my fashion magazine. I chose somewhat vibrant colors and turned them dark, so the magazine cover wouldn't be too overwhelming with bright colors. It looks calm and casual, such as the winter season should be. Since the model is wearing a yellow sweater (both wintry and trendy) I chose for the title color to also be a shade of yellow. I would've wanted the rest of the words on the cover to be yellow, but that's too bland and yellow wouldn't be a clear/striking color for the cover; hence, I chose red because there's a little red at the bottom of the photo and white because it's a simple, but clear color for the cover that really compliments the entire thing. Just like other magazines, I included the model's name, an issue title, and some contents of the cover that's featured.
This is my table of contents. It's simple and striking at the same time. Most of magazines I saw had simple table of contents, which I really liked. I stuck with the yellow accents and overall color for the magazine because I felt that changing the color scheme suddenly inside the magazine would ruin the entire aesthetics of the magazine. I also felt that, since the colors on my cover was red, white, and yellow; I thought to incorporate it inside the magazine too. In my original table of contents template, the red tab next to the magazine title wasn't even considered; but I remembered that Vogue magazine had the same thing and I thought to incorporate it in order to show some more color than just the minimal yellow and mostly white background. I also added the yellow underlines every section of the contents to separate each one of them in a more clean and subtle way. I also added little titles and descriptions to somewhat intrigue and give the readers some outline on each page.
This is the first page of my article and I chose for the topic of the article to be related to the issue name in the cover page, which was "Modern Beauty." I thought that for a long time, a lot of fashion magazines focused their contents on the supermodels, not a lot of issues -- just like most of the magazine articles that I read. So, in a more accepting age of this world, I chose to write on a new beauty standard that this new age should know even more. I understand that some fashion brands have included different model in all shapes, shades, and sizes; but, in needs to be more diverse and more apparent in the industry. I followed on with the red tab and the yellow title to keep the aesthetics in the magazine. I bolded that issue name in the magazine, a little overview, and the rest in normal print.
Fortunately for me, my vision towards the issue was the same as the model's. So, most of the ideas or logic in the article was by her. She believes in a new beauty standards and she understands the difficulty in the industry. She's much shorter than the average model and she worries about her weight, and her figure; but despite all that, she appreciates her beauty and she believes that everyone should too. The magazine title means appealing or moving in French and the issue and the model itself were moving in that sense.
