Creative Critical Reflection 4

Image result for rebel t6For this project, I utilized different technologies to produce my magazine and my templates, etc. I was able to use a camera, Canon Rebel T6, in order to take photos for my magazine because they're better in capturing photos despite the lighting provided. Since I wanted to take better photos, I had to use the camera in my advantage, but I wasn't sure how to use it because I've never used a camera before. So, I watched different videos from YouTube in order to somewhat master the indicated setting I needed to take the photos. Before the camera, I used an iPhone 7 in order to take photos because I didn't asked for a camera form my teacher sooner. The phone camera was a lot easier to handle than an actual camera, but it was fine because the quality of the photo still stands. Now, after all the photos I took form a phone and a camera, I used my laptop and my phone, once again, in order to edit the photos I took and complete each page.

Image result for vscoFirst off, I edited the photo on VSCO, a professional photo editing application, on my phone to adjust the lighting and the quality of the photo. I didn't do anything major, although, because I wanted to preserve the beauty and integrity of both the model and the photo. I didn't want to be like those other magazines who alter photos to enhance a particular body part to make it look more appealing to their audiences. On my cover page, after I edited the photos, I used Photoshop Express on my phone to edit the photo once again. I didn't enhance anything on the photo itself, but I just had to place the title and assess which color or font would best suit my magazine. Once this is done, I went on to Paint 3D on my laptop and placed the final touches on the cover such as the name of the model and a small description about the content. On my table of contents and article pages, I used the same application to edit the lighting and quality of the photo, but I used Microsoft Word in order to place the words that make up the page. Since I was certified in Microsoft Word, navigating through the application on my laptop wasn't that hard. From my prior knowledge of the application, I had organized the layout and the words in columns like any other magazine and utilized the many different types of fontImage result for words that Microsoft Word provides in order to make the page look appealing. I even proportioned each one accordingly via the convenient features that Microsoft Word also provides. After everything had been positioned and edited on a Word Document, I converted each file to PDF because I can only upload my magazine pages via JPEG. So, after I had converted the documents to PDF via a feature that Microsoft also has, I opened them as PDFs and converted them once again to JPEG and finally uploaded them to my blog.


Image result for bloggerFor my research, I used Google and for my blog, i used Blogger. Google really contributed to the amount of information I had learned in order to make this magazine. I was able to access different website and photos for basis for my magazine. Blogger was our default blogging website, so that helped too because I could not have uploaded anything into a blog if it wasn't for the online application. Soon, I'm going to have to use Prezi to make my presentation for my Creative Critical Reflection also.

Project Selection - Magazine

Print journalism is an easy choice to make; but, the production of the magazine itself can be easily overwhelming, but vibrant and aesthetically pleasing in the end. Print journalism screams the expression of a brand; it defines the brand itself. I've made a cover page of a magazine before and it actually turned out great, so print media might be a good choice -- considering that I have a little background knowledge. Based on the elements I learned from my class -- AICE Media Studies -- the magazine analysis and the blog samples did wonders in outlining my process. I saw what a magazine could look like, which is simple and not too overwhelming with vibrant colors or bold text designs. Other blog posts concerning magazine showed me what the blog should look like, what to do, and what not do. Table of Contents (Option 1)

This is my first draft on my table of contents. I have another idea for the table of contents, so that's coming up next. This idea came from Porter magazine. I really like it as it's simple and striking at the same time. This is what it's most likely going to look like, but the magazine has section titles and I might add it later on during the process because it separates different articles and ideas within the magazine. I might also add a little color to the section titles if I choose to do it because a plain table of contents doesn't give aesthetics. I'm thinking for the magazine title to also be colored, so it doesn't look bland. Most magazines I saw only had a single color and it seemed bland to me, which I didn't really like.
